Bloomsbury England Vacation Rentals by Holiday.com
This three-storey flat was built in 1698 and is a very rare survival of Old London. It has wood-panelled walls, window-shutters, a pretty staircase, and it is appropriately furnished. It is extremly central and within walking distance of the British Museum and London University, and Covent Garden, theatres, shops and restaurants are all within easy reach. The area is central but surprisingly quiet and there is a childrens' garden/playground nearby. This is a family home, available to rent at reasonable rates, and it is suitable for visitors who would enjoy the experience of living in an ancient building in an historic part of central London. And by living so centrally you will not only save lots of money on public transport but precious time as well!

The flat is in Holborn in an area known as Bloomsbury much favoured by writers and artists since the 18th century when frequented by the painter William Hogarth. Charles Dickens wrote David Copperfield just round the corner. The Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood was founded nearby and the celebrated 'Bloomsbury Group' (which included Virginia Woolf) also lived in the area. Now there is an interesting mixture of commercial and residential life and the area has the benefit of being both in the heart of London and also relatively quiet. The nearest underground stations are Holborn and Russell Square, both five minutes walk away.
