Location
Burgau is situated on the Western side of the Algarve in a quiet serene area of the National Park. It is a small fishing village with winding cobbled streets and fishermans' cottages. Situated approximately 12km from the historic town of Lagos and 24km from Sagres the most south-westerly village in mainland Europe. Although a small picturesque village it has 2 supermarkets, various bars, (including beach bar) and several restaurants. For more night life then Lagos is a 15 minute drive away.
Major airport is FARO 100 km away.
Port of BILBOA is 1,200 away.
LAGOS railway station is 12 km away.

Although golf is an all-year round sport in the Algarve the conditions are best from November to April. Burgau is within easy reach of several fantastic golf courses including:-Parque da Floresta Golf and Leisure Resort this is the most westerly course and is both dramatic and demanding. Situated approx 8km west of Burgau. The Boavista Golf Course is approx 3km and near the town of Lagos. Penina Golf Course was laid out in 1966 and is situated 5km west of Portimao and approx 18km. This is the Algarve's oldest golf course and the first to be designed by the late Sir Henry Cotton. The flat 18-hole championship course is supplemented by two 9-hole courses among eucalyptus trees. Palmires a scenic 18-hole course is situated a few kilometres east of Lagos with views of Lagos Bay in front and the Monchique mountains behind.
WALKERS DELIGHT/BIRD WATCHING
Huge areas of the Western Algarve are unfenced and ideal for everyone from serious ramblers to those who just like a peaceful stroll in the countryside or along the rugged coast. All you need is a pair of comfortable trainers or walking shoes. Very few places call for hiking boots but flip-flops or sandals are hopeless for walking through stony or thorny countryside. There are countless paths and tracks, particularly in the hills and foothills, which will give enjoyment to walkers at any time of the year, though we do recommend February to June.

Head off into them there hills and take in the wonderful scenery. A guide of a few local routes can be provided.
