'Casa del Rio' is an appealing old cottage backing onto the river in the centre of the small sleepy village of Estacion de Cortes de la Frontera. It has been tastefully renovated whilst retaining it's character. The 2 storey accommodation offers a spacious lounge with an archway leading to the large kitchen diner overlooking the River Guardiaro and mountains beyond -this leads to a delightful riverside terrace, with river access, which is ideal for alfresco dining, sunbathing or watching the eagles soar overhead. There is also a bathroom on this floor. Upstairs are 3 double bedrooms, 2 with balconies with river or village views from which you can safely watch the running of the bulls during the August feria- there is also another seating area and bathroom. The owners large luxury swimming pool is available for sole use of guests from 10am-4pm daily and is 10 minutes walk away along an ancient drovers track.

Our large luxury swimming pool, surrounded by sunbathing terraces with spectacular valley and mountain views, is available for the sole use of guests between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday inclusive, and is a short walk away along an ancient drovers track. Walks can be arranged with local guides. We provide a welcome hamper free of charge.

The historic mountain village of Cortes de la Frontera with all facilities is 10 mins drive away - Malaga airport is 1hr 30 mins - Gibraltar airport is 1hr. Beach resorts of Sabinillas and Estepona are 45 mins. The medieval city of Ronda is 30 mins - Sevilla and Cordoba are 2 hrs.

The price is for the cottage per week and not dependant on guest numbers. Booking day is negotiable - access to cottage at 4pm, departure 10am. We personally meet guests, hand over keys and ensure you are settled in. We live permanently nearby and are available for any help and assistance you may require. A non returnable deposit of 25% is payable at the time of booking, with the balance becoming due 4 weeks before the holiday date. Change overday negotiable.
Catch this train from the pretty railway station in Estacion de Cortes, on the doorstep! The train connects the coast at Algeciras, to Ronda and through to Granada, passing innumerable fairy tale white mountain villages amidst unsurpassed scenery. Take the train to Algeciras and catch the ferry to Africa for an exciting day out or go to Granada to see the fabulous Alhambra Palace, or even ski in the Sierra Nevada. Visit the historic town of Ronda built on a breathtaking precipitous gorge, with it's Arab Baths, ancient mansions and the oldest bullring in Spain- Hemingway's favourite. Or just hop off at any of the little villages and explore. Give the driver a break -leave the car and travel by train - it is a memorable experience.
Estacion de Cortes de la Frontera
This delightful tiny riverside village is a country lovers paradise situated between 2 National Parks, surrounded by spectacular views of forests and mountains. It is breathtaking in the spring when the whole area is covered in a myriad of wildflowers - at least 250 varieties have been recorded. There are several small supermarkets, a church and 5 bars serving good local food at prices you won't believe. There is also a small English owned hotel with a restaurant offering an international menu. Estacion is ideally situated for walkers, birdwatchers, botanists, fishermen and those who just want to chill. It is a working village where you will see sheep, goats, donkeys and horses being led through the streets and where the friendly locals always greet you with a smile.
Cortes de la Frontera
Cortes is 5 kilometres away and has a good selection of bars and restaurants. It has a bullring with the running of the bulls during the annual fiesta in August. There are several parks, a splendid old 16th century Church and Town Hall and many ancient village houses to be discovered down the lanes lined with orange trees. The National Parks Information Centre is situated on the village outskirts and there is a large village swimming pool open during the season. With a 24 hour health centre, a gym and a daily covered market and street market every 2 weeks, Cortes caters for all your needs.
