Location
Rhodes is the furthest south eastern island of Greece and the largest island of the Dodecanes, a complex of islands in the south of the Aegean Sea. It is a very popular, cosmopolitan island, where both Venetian and Turkish influence are apparent, giving it a special charm. Rhodes is a big island with a lot to see. We suggest a visit to the town of Lindos located southeast of Rhodes, where the Acropolis of Lindos, is situated. Church of Agia Triada, Medieval City of Rhodes
It is a cross form church with cupola. The northern arm of the cross is shorter and ends up in a adjacent structure with rib vault.
The frescoes are preserved mainly in the western arm and are probably of the late 15th and the early 16th century.
Church of Agios Athanasios, Medieval City of Rhodes
It is an aisleless church near the namesake city gate with iconopraphical decoration. It is dated in the 15th century.
It was used as a mosque during the Ottoman occupation.
The city has many landmarks. Some of them date back to antiquity and most of the others remain from the Knights Period.
